We've recently completed a Rally version of the new PR5 liquid cooled, in conjunction with Mark Molineux of RallyMoto. As you can see he's constructed a “dural” aircraft alloy tank with a capacity of 17 litres, which should give a range of well over 200 miles! There's also what we call a “nav tree” fitted, which holds the automatic electronic roadbook for navigating your way round a rally lap, and the ICO GPS meter, a highly accurate device giving your exact GPS location. A custom made fairing and lights complete the front end.
The exhaust has been re-routed alongside the gearbox, the added length and circumference move the power further up the rev range and a re-mapped ECU provides the juices in appropriate amounts.
Finally we've fitted an uprated spring to the Sachs shocker, to cope with the extra weight of a full fuel load and tip it on its nose a tad to speed up the handling.
So, does it go as good as it looks? Well it came 5th in class at its first
competitive outing in the Portuguese Baja and we're hoping for great things at the forthcoming Ryedale Rally
in the UK. Reaction has been unanimously favourable and there's already another under construction.
Rallymoto can build the tank to suit any bike in the AJP range and are happy to quote for the nav tower work too.
